How do I get this page onto my phone without typing the URL?
Every free QR generator is a server that receives the thing being encoded and, in most cases, keeps the redirect. The encoder here is about three hundred lines of ours - byte mode over UTF-8, all four correction levels, all eight masks drawn and scored - so nothing is requested, nothing is registered and nothing is shortened.

What this actually is
the current url as a code you can scan to a phoneGetting a staging URL onto a phone, sharing a Wi-Fi network without reading a password aloud, or putting a contact card on screen. The window is separate from the panel because a code has to be big enough for a camera to read off a screen.

No. That is the entire reason the encoder was written rather than installed. Nothing is requested and no redirect is registered, so the code will still resolve in five years.
Why is the symbol always black on white?
Because a scanner needs the contrast and a themed QR code is a QR code that fails on somebody’s phone. It is the one place in this product where a literal colour is not a design choice.
What happens if my text is too long?
It is refused with the limit named. Truncating would produce a code that scans and gives the wrong answer, which is worse than one that does not scan.
Can it encode a Wi-Fi network or a contact?
Yes - those are two of the kinds, alongside a plain address and free text. Neither needs a page, which is why the window is useful even on a browser-internal tab.
