Because a score is spent arguing about the weighting. Three states - clear, look first, hold - each map onto a decision somebody has to make in the next few minutes, and the rows underneath say exactly what produced them.
What happens when a reading fails to run?
It is reported as Not read and the verdict says so. A gate that could not be measured is never rendered as cleared, which is the one failure mode that would make the whole screen worth nothing.
Is this a substitute for an audit?
No. It is a threshold on readings the panel already takes, which is a release decision rather than a conformance claim. The accessibility audit and the conformance statement are still the documents somebody signs.
how to use ship check
- Open Ship check on the page you are about to release. It takes the reading once, on arrival.
- Read the verdict first, then the count of gates cleared beside it.
- Work down the gates: each one carries its measurement and the threshold it had to clear.
- Treat anything marked Not read as unanswered, and take that reading yourself before shipping.
